Defining Yourself For Safe, Long-lasting Weightloss

“When you want to lose weight how do you make sure you are defining yourself correctly so that everything lines up in order to attract the weight loss goals?”

This is a great question from one of our listeners, EM, after the show with Brad Yates about releasing judgment. (here’s the link to that show in case you missed it: http://www.worldtalkradio.com/worldtalkradio/vepisode.aspx?aid=57583 )

One of the biggest fears people have about releasing judgment on themselves is because we’ve been taught to motivate ourselves by judging and beating up on ourselves. We define ourselves as overweight or obese, unattractive, unhealthy, and a host of other labels and decisions that keep us feeling disempowered.

With this fear-based energy, we beat ourselves into submission in an attempt to regain our power and create change. We force ourselves into all sorts of unnatural, and sometimes even dangerous routines to achieve our weightloss or fat loss goals. You know the ones I mean, pills, crazy diets, exercise that is completely wrong for us. Afterall, they saying is ‘you have to suffer to be beautiful,’ right? It’s not your fault – this was the paradigm for success in the 20th century. Thank goodness we connecting better with our inner knowing in the 21st century!

Some people are able to create temporary changes in their weight this way, but as long as they are defining themselves as a fat person forcing themselves into what they have been led to believe is a skinny lifestyle, most changes will be only temporary. There’s a reason most people don’t keep their thinner selves after weightloss for five years or more.

And others don’t even make it that far. Their energy refuses to let them go on with the plan, which might not be such a bad thing, except that they then use the ‘failure to do the plan’ as even more reason to beat up on themselves.

The problem is that defining ourselves in this way is fear-based and a kind of pushing against. Just like those finger traps we played with as children, the harder you try to pull your fingers out, the tighter it grips you. So you’re in a situation where you are either having to continue to fight and struggle which may or may not continue to work for you, or stop the forcing and let all that weight come back with a vengeance.

So what can you do? You need to make the decision to change from the fear-based beating yourself up to a love-based solution. The loved-based solution is to remember yourself as the divine manifestation of love and light that you truly are. Choose to love yourself unconditionally, as that divine manifestation of love and light.

When you’re ‘yeah, but’s…’ come up (and they probably will, on body image or whatever other resistance is running at that moment), welcome it and tap it clear. Thank goodness for EFT to help us in times like that! If you need help in tapping it clear, get the help and support you need – from family, friends, or from a professional EFT Practitioner/Instructor like me http://www.magicatyourfingertips.com/bookteresa/.

Once you’re securely in that place of loving yourself unconditionally and defining yourself as a divine manifestation of love and light, you’re going to want to lovingly support and appreciate the divine gift that your body is and all that it does for you. When you focus on loving and appreciating your body, being truly grateful for it, you are going to find that you are wanting to experience it differently.

You’ll find that you are attracting nutrient dense foods that are delicious and make you feel energetic and excited to be alive, and old food habits that make you feel yucky will start to fall away. You’ll find that you are attracting activities that you love to do and that energize your body, that feel good while you’re doing them and after, and anything that isn’t a match to supporting your radiant good health will fall away. Take action on those. You’ll be able to tell by how you feel. Does it feel like love or does it feel like fear?

If you need clarity on what’s good for you lovingly supporting you, you can always tap for it. And again, if you need any help in this area, I’m happy to be of service http://www.magicatyourfingertips.com/bookteresa/.
